    ITA COMMITTEES

ITA Committees

2007-2008

ITA’s volunteer leaders are the lifeblood of this organization.  Committees help mold the policies, activities and philosophies of the ITA.

ITA’s committees provide a great opportunity to get involved, network with your peers, and exchange ideas with other experts in your field.

Please contact Jolene Davis at jdavis@i-t-a.net or 515-867-2091 if you are interested in volunteering for any of these.  We will pass your name to the committee chair that will be in charge of committee selection.

Convention Committee: The Convention Committee plans the association annual convention and trade show each year.  The committee is in charge of speaker selection, hotel set-up, convention scheduling, marketing & advertising the event, and actively participating during the event.  The convention is held in early November of each year.

Tradeshow Subcommittee:  The Tradeshow subcommittee is open only to ITA Associate Members.  That committee plans and coordinates the tradeshow that accompanies the ITA annual convention.

Continuing Education Committee:  The Continuing Education Committee identifies topics and subject matters of interest to ITA members and their employees.  The committee then plans, coordinates, and implements training sessions and other continuing education opportunities.  The committee has four sub-committees, each targeted to a key audience inside a telephone company:

  • Manager’s Training.  The Manager’s Training Subcommittee organizes, directs and produces timely meetings to address key industry developments, regulatory changes and other hot topics of interest to general managers and their key staff.
  • Marketing. The Marketing Subcommittee works to provide members with the education, tools and resources to successfully market their products and services.  The committee gathers industry information to promote the telecom industry in Iowa, as well as presents the annual ITA Marketing Seminar to educate members on the need to market, as well as current and innovative marketing practices.
  • Technician Training.  This committee works closely with the various community colleges in Iowa to produce training and educational opportunities targeted to the technical employees in your organization.  This committee organizes the annual ITA Technicians Training Seminar and other tech training sessions.
  • Front Office Training.  The Front Office subcommittee plans and organizes continuing education sessions geared towards front office employees.

Golf Committee: The ITA Golf Committee organizes the annual two-day golf event for the association.  This includes all meal functions, give-aways, registering 300+ golfers and actively participating during the event.  Golf day is scheduled for the third Tuesday in June each year.

Industry Relations:  The Industry Relations committee advises the ITA on all regulatory matters coming before the Iowa Utilities Board, the FCC, and other regulatory agencies, as well as matters affecting our industry as a whole.  Participants often break into key task forces and subcommittees to study industry issues.

Legislative Committee:  The Legislative Committee advises ITA on matters before the Iowa Legislature and the Governor’s Office, and assists in grassroots development programs.  It also advocates changes in Iowa law that will advance telecommunication services for the betterment of Iowa and its citizens.

Member Resources Committee:  This committee works on a “project” basis to create resources that are useful to the entire industry including surveys, brochures, improved information and knowledge available on ITA’s website, state wide ad campaigns that the telcos can use to promote their products, and community betterment ideas.

TelePAC Committee:  The TelePAC promotes personal participation in our industry’s Political Action Committee.  It identifies and coordinates appropriate fundraising events, and determines the level of financial support given to legislators who support our industry.  In order for our industry to be successful in our lobbying efforts, we must help to elect individuals who understand and support our views on legislative issues.  The Committee has representatives from INS, RIITA, and ITA.

Video Committee:  The Video Committee gathers the latest information and creates knowledge and resources to assist ITA members who are providing video services or who are considering providing video services.
